Getting started with the app

The app is free on the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android). Search for “EV MAP” in your phone’s store and install it.

Open the app and tap “Create an account”. Fill in the requested details and confirm. Your account works straight away: you can add a payment method and start your first charge.

Yes, it’s free. Signing up and using an EV MAP account cost nothing, with no subscription or monthly fee. You only pay for the energy you use when charging, at the rate of the charge point.

Some charging networks offer their own subscriptions with lower rates. The rate of every charge point is shown on the map in the app.

In the app, open the menu at the top left, tap the arrow next to your name to open your details, then tap “Delete account” at the bottom of the page.

Finding a charge point and charging

The map in the app shows every charge point available through the EV MAP network. You can filter results by:

  • address or city;
  • connector type (CCS, Type 2…);
  • charging power;
  • availability.

The map updates in real time. For each charge point you can see its status (available, in use, out of order or under maintenance), the free connectors, the power and the rate.

Plug in your vehicle, then select the charge point in the app: scan the QR code on the charge point, or pick it on the map using your location. Then tap “Start charging”.

If you started the charge in the app, tap “Stop charging”. If you started it with your Smart Pass badge, hold the badge in front of the charge point’s reader again.

The Smart Pass is the EV MAP RFID badge. It starts a charge without your phone, which helps when mobile coverage is poor.

  • Order your badge from the online shop.
  • Link it to your account in the app.
  • Hold it in front of the charge point’s reader to start charging, and once more to stop.

More details on the Smart Pass page.

On rapid chargers, the cable is attached to the charge point, so you don’t need one. On all other charge points, you need your own cable. The app shows for each charge point whether a cable is provided.

Payment and billing

The app gives you two options:

  • save a bank card in your payment methods: the amount is charged automatically at the end of each session;
  • use your EV MAP balance, topped up as you need.

Some charge points also have a card terminal, contact or contactless. On the others, you can pay by card from the app.

Each network sets its own rates, so prices vary from one charge point to another. The rate is shown on the charge point, in the app and on the online map. See also our Rates page.

You may be. Some rates include a fee based on plugged-in time, to free up spaces faster. Check the rate details of the charge point in the app before plugging in.

That depends on the local parking rules, not on EV MAP. Check the signs and road markings around the charge point.

First check the charge point’s rate in the app and recalculate the price of your session. If you find a difference, email support@evmap.fr with:

  • the charge point reference;
  • the date and time of the session;
  • the email address of your EV MAP account.

Charging problems and support

Start with the vehicle’s charging flap. If it isn’t fully locked, charging won’t start, for safety reasons.

Then check your account. An invoice left unpaid after its due date suspends access to the service. Pay it from your customer area and your account is reactivated immediately.

Finally, look at the charge point. If no light is on, or the light is red, it is out of service. Call the support number shown on the charge point to report it, then find another charge point on the map in the app.

The actual power is limited by your car’s on-board charger. A vehicle with a 7 kW charger will charge at 7 kW at most, even on a 22 kW charge point. Your vehicle’s maximum charging power is listed in its technical sheet or owner’s manual.

Don’t force the cable. Call the support number shown on the charge point: they can unlock the connector remotely.

Call the technical support number shown on the charge point, or email contact@evmap.fr with the charge point concerned, the day, the time and a description of the problem.

For a problem during a charge, use the number shown on the charge point.

EV MAP technical support is available Monday to Friday, 9 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm, on +33 8 06 14 15 00 or by email at contact@evmap.fr.

Charging time and plug-in hybrids

It depends on three things: the power of the charge point, the maximum power your vehicle accepts, and the battery’s charge level. The battery management system (BMS) also limits power to protect the battery, especially as it gets close to 100%.

For a rough figure, divide the energy to add (in kWh) by the power actually received (in kW). Adding 40 kWh at 7 kW takes about 6 hours.

For an estimate for your model, use the Automobile Propre charging time simulator (in French).

A plug-in hybrid usually accepts up to 7.4 kW in alternating current (AC). Check the exact figure with your dealer or in your model’s technical sheet.

At home or at work, you can plug it into a reinforced socket, a Wellborne charge point or a shared charge point in your building, between 1.8 and 7.4 kW.

In town, choose standard charge points, from 3.7 to 7 kW. A more powerful charge point won’t charge your battery any faster.

Bring a Type 2 / Type 2 cable, or a cable with a domestic plug.

Private and business charge points

Yes. The app shows your charge point’s status in real time and your charging history, and sends you notifications. This applies to charge points on the EV MAP Home, Pro and Open plans.

In the app, open “Charging settings” and choose your preferred times. Charging will start during those slots, which lowers your electricity cost if your contract has off-peak hours.

From the EV MAP Control portal, you can add users to your private charge point or invite people who already use the EV MAP app. For help with this, the technical team answers at contact@evmap.fr.

Contact EV MAP technical support Monday to Friday, 9 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm, on +33 8 06 14 15 00 or at contact@evmap.fr. Give the charge point reference and describe the problem.

Home charging with EV MAP Home

With your two badges. The EV MAP Pro badge is for charging your company vehicle: these charges appear in your monthly report. The white Personal / Guest badge is for your own vehicle or a guest’s: you pay for these charges.

Every month, EV MAP emails you the previous month’s consumption report for charges made with the Pro badge. Send it to your employer with your expense claim.

The amount is calculated with the price per kWh you provided or your employer approved. Tell EV MAP about any change in your electricity rate: a rate cannot be changed retroactively.

First check your spam folder. If the report isn’t there, email support@evmap.fr.

Only charges started with the Pro badge appear in it. If you used the wrong badge, tell EV MAP the date and time of the charge.

Contact EV MAP at support@evmap.fr or on +33 8 06 14 15 00. The badge is deactivated and you get a new one.

Use “Forgot password” with your work email address, the one linked to your charge point.

Yes, on EV MAP network charge points and through roaming, if your employer has enabled it. Without a badge, you can also start a charge by scanning the charge point’s QR code with the EV MAP app.

Charge point managers (EV MAP Control)

Go to cp.evmap.fr and log in with your email address and password. If your login isn’t recognised, email support@evmap.fr with your company name, your first and last name and your email address.

A lost connection is sometimes temporary. If it lasts, check that the charge point is powered (screen on) and that the site’s internet connection works, then restart it by switching off the power at the circuit breaker.

If it stays offline, email support@evmap.fr with your company name, the charge point’s serial number, a photo of its screen and your availability over the next two weeks.

In “EV drivers”, open “RFID badges” and click “Create an RFID badge”. Choose the RFID type and the Enabled status, select the user, then confirm. The user must already exist: invite them or create their account first.

In “EV drivers”, open “Invitations” and click “Create an invitation”. If you have several rate groups, choose the group. Enter your colleague’s email, tick “Allow access to private charging points”, then confirm.

For a public charge point with a specific rate, leave that box unticked. By default, every EV MAP user sees your public charge point at the public rate.

In “Product offers”, open “Rates” and click “Edit”. You can adjust the price per kWh and the time period for duration fees (for example, billing per 15-minute block). Don’t change the type, connection fees or minimum price: contact EV MAP to update them.

To create a new rate for a user group, email support@evmap.fr with the group name.

EV MAP collects every paid session. Every month, you receive a bank transfer for the total of the sessions, minus the EV MAP commission (see your terms of sale). The settlement report is available under “Billing”, “Settlement reports”, and can be exported as a PDF.
